I was released from the hospital yesterday around 3pm – less than 24 hours, woo hoo!
All things considered, I’m pretty comfortable and in good shape. Just tired beyond words. So there will be lots of napping in my future!
So grateful for all the positive thoughts and prayers!!!
I know Austin mentioned that the surgeon found “positive” lymph nodes on the right side – this means the cancer cells were starting to travel. Unfortunately this means I’ll need chemotherapy, which sucks…BUT, on the bright side I won’t have to shave my legs or pay for expensive shampoo for a few months 😉
We had our first “meal train” meal last night and it was awesome!!

Hi Alex…So good to hear that the surgery went well and you are on the mend. Yes…lots of naps for you! I am so sorry to hear that you will need chemotherapy…I believe your strength and spirit (and all your support) will help you through. I am so inspired by your strength, courage, and positivity. Home sweet Home! So glad surgery went well and that you are for the most part comfortable and resting at home. Get lots and lots of rest so you can be charged up for the next step. Sorry to hear chemo but good thing they went in and found it so you can stop it dead in its tracks once and for all!!! Yes no shaving for you this summer. Nice! I will be bring over your 2nd dinner this afternoon. 🌻

I’m so glad you’re home and recovering. The chemo part sucks but at least you are past the first big hurdle. You’ll get through that as well when it’s time. I’m thinking of you and you family constantly.

It’s so good to hear you are recovering well and relatively comfortable. Sorry to hear the news about the lymph node and chemo. I think you mentioned you could get chemo at Emerson if needed, which will make it a little easier. I remember that when my grandmother lost her hair during treatment for ovarian cancer, my grandfather would look at her so lovingly and say, “I never knew that you had such a beautiful head. So perfectly round.” It sounds like you have a great man by your side too, and I know this will help you to get through it.

You are totally amazing, Alex. If it were me, I’d be complaining out the wazoo! Infuriating that they discharged you so soon. I’m so sorry you have to do chemo, sweetie. We are all with you and loving you so much. You’re a strong one and set a truly great example for the rest of us.

If you were ready, then I think it’s a relief to be out of the hospital!! You must have been a rockstar post-op!! I hope you’re not suffering too much—please don’t be a cowboy (or cowgirl!) and take good care to get lots of rest and pharmaceutical relief!!! Ha! That’s a nurse lecturing you!! Xo Tanya

Glad you’re home! Hope you’re resting and those boys are waiting on you hand and foot 🙂 So sorry to hear about you having to go through chemo, but you’ll get through that and before you know if you’ll be back and better than ever! Hope you’re hungry for tomorrow! My husband has been lurking around the kitchen and I’ve had to send him out about 100 times!
